Format: Align

Align

Select an object by clicking on it so that the handles appear around it. This will be your ‘Master’ object on which the others will align. You select the other objects by pressing and holding down SHIFT while clicking on the other objects. A box appears around each object that is selected.

Even easier, you may click with the left button and draw a box around multiple objects at the same time. Click and hold with the left mouse button while dragging the cursor around the objects. When you release the mouse button, a box appears around each object that is selected. If you inadvertently select an object that you do not want included, Shift-click on it to deselect it.

Select Align from the menu to see several options for aligning the selected objects. If you right-click on the screen outside of any question, the Align menu will automatically appear, as well. Remember that the object with the handles around it (the Master) determines the property that is applied to all the other selected objects. Make sure that the Master is in the correct position on which to align the others. Select align options from the alignment menu so that the questions in the dotted boxes will align with the Master question.

The alignment options are:

Left align aligns the left sides of the selected objects with the Master.
Top align aligns the tops of the selected objects with the Master.
Same Width makes all the selected objects the same width as the Master.
Same Height makes all the selected objects the same height as the Master.
Bottom align aligns the bottom of the selected objects with the Master.
Center centers the selected objects in the page.
Responses align     applies the alignment to the responses of the selected questions.
Same font applies the same font as the Master to all the selected objects.
Shrink wrap for response-type buttons, resizes each button to fit the text snugly

If you select Response align in the alignment menu, the response sets will be aligned. The elements of the response sets will not be altered in their spacing but the response sets as a whole will be aligned. If you wish to change the spacing between the elements of the response set, click on the response set and select Response | Modify on the upper menu to go to the response editor window. Use the Align option here to redo your spacing between items as you want.

NOTE: If you accidentally select top align instead of left align, all your objects will be on top of one another. If this happens, drag and drop them apart and try again.
