Analysis - Plot

Plot allows you to create tables, pie charts, bar charts and histograms of your response type questions. A response question is either a Multiple Choice, ListBox, Combobox, Weighted Score, or a Check All that Apply. Write in question types cannot be displayed as a graph. They must be displayed in a table format.

To create a plot:

  1. Select Analysis Plot or use the keyboard combination Ctrl+N and the Select a question and plot type dialog box will appear.
  2. In the listbox labeled Question select the question to use in the plot. If you wish to sort the question alphabetically, select the Sort checkbox in the lower left corner.
  3. In the listbox labeled Select plot type, select the type of the graph to make. The options include Table, Pie, Bar, Horizontal Bar, and Histogram. All the plot types except for Table come in both 2-D and 3-D versions.
  4. If you wish to have the plot based off of groups that you have already defined (or were defined in the form definition file), click the Groups radio button at the bottom. This allows you to make graphs out of groups of similar questions that are defined under Analysis Compose Groups.
  5. Click Finish to finalize the settings.
  6. To change the set of colors for the responses in your bar plot right click on the recently generated plot. In the context menu select Colors. The color can also be accessed using Edit Colors.

Changing Plots

You can change a plot once it is created by selecting the plot and clicking on a different plot type or question.

To change the plot type:

  1. Select View Plot Types to show the Plot toolbar.
  2. Select the plot to change.
  3. Click on one of the buttons in the Plot toolbar to change the plot to the type represented by the button.

To change a plot to a different question:

  1. Select View Question List to show the Select Question window.
  2. Select the plot to change.
  3. Click on a different question in the Select Question window.
  4. You can do this multiple times to view results for several questions.

To change the question to a group of questions:

  1. Select View Group list to show the Select Group window.
  2. Select the plot to change.
  3. Click on a different group in the Select Group window.
  4. You can do this multiple times to view results for several groups.
