How to - Edit HTML

EZSurvey allows you to edit questions in a separate HTML editor. EZSurvey users that want to do additional HTML formatting to their surveys can do so by using this button. The HTML editor can be a simple program like Notepad, or a full-featured editor such as FrontPage or other. Selecting the Edit HTML button sends the currently selected question to the default HTML editor.

The default HTML editor is set by Windows, and can be changed in the Internet Options portion of the control panel. Go there by selecting Start Settings Control Panel then click on Internet Options. Select the Programs tab, then select a default editor under HTML editor. If the editor you want to use is not on the list, you can add an HTML editor by following these steps:

Windows XP:

  1. Open Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer).
  2. Select Tools Folder Options, then click on the File Types tag.
  3. In the Details for "HTML" extension box click on the Advanced button.
  4. In the Details for box select the Change button.
  5. Select the application you want to use then click OK.

Windows 2000:

  1. Open Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer).
  2. Select Tools Folder Options, then click on the File Types tag.
  3. In the Details for "HTML" extension box click on the Advanced button.
  4. In the Actions box of the Edit File Type window, if Edit is listed, select it and then click Remove. Select Yes to confirm removal.
  5. Select New and then in the Action box, type Edit.
  6. Under Application used to perform action, browse to the executable you want to use and select it. Select OK.
  7. Select OK and you are done.
When you are done editing your question, you must save the file in your HTML editor. Use the default name, ~edit.html, when you save.
